CHRISTMAS HANUKA KWANZAA: Gifts for Co-Workers
Holiday gifts can be difficult when shopping for co-workers. Which begs the questions "Do you buy a token gift for everyone?", "If you don't buy gifts for every co-worker, then how do you make sure there are no hurt feelings?" and, of course, "Do you buy anything for your co-workers at all?"
These questions cause a lot of office-related neurosis around this time of year.
If you don't like and/or get along with your manager, do you buy her a gift? What if she gives you a Holiday gift? Do you change your mind and find a gift of comparable value?
What about the dead wood on your team? The co-workers you only associate with only when you're forced to? What if they give you a gift?
Let's say you bout Holiday gifts for all but a few people? How do you ensure no feelings are hurt?
Or, what if - like me - you're a scrooge (see tomorrow's post) and you abhor participating in Christmas, Hanuka or Kwanzaa activities? Do you buy Holiday gifts just to play nice and be political?
These are difficult questions. So how do you answer them?
