PARETO: Organizing Your Job Search and Why Less Is More

Earlier this week, we looked at Venn Diagram Resumes as a way to keep track of which resumes go to which employers. Fewer resumes equate to less confusion.

And better job search organization.

This "less is more" approach falls into the Pareto Principle territory. Consider, if you will:

If you have many different kinds of resumes, then your saturation rate can only be minimal. If you have fewer kinds of resumes, then you're able to better penetrate the markets because you're focusing on just a few kinds of jobs.

Less time scouring online means more time available for networking - which is a more effective method of developing job leads anyways.

Reducing (or eliminating) needless resume tweaking gives you more opportunities to use your resume.

When you reduce or eliminate the bad and ineffective, you have no other option than to increase the good and productive. It's just that straight forward.
