ADDING VALUE: Busting Past Your Best

You can bust past your best. You can exceed what you've done and what you've achieved. You can do anything you want.

Okay, so if that's true, then why isn't everyone becoming more and achieving more?

Most don't bust past their previous best. It's usually due to one or more reasons: fear, lack of effort and motivation, conditioned to believe they can't, don't know their own potential, etc.

But if you want to bust past your best and achieve more and be more, you can. It's not the easiest thing in the world, nor will it usually happen over night, but it's not the hardest thing, either. You really can bust past your best by following a simple procedure:

What you want to improve. If you try to improve everything, then you will wind up improving nothing. Look at just a few specific improvements you'd like to make. By focusing on just a couple improvements, you improve your chances of busting past your best. Oddly enough, it makes more sense to improve on things in which you already excel (be sure to read the ****Parreto**** post later today).

Get a base line. In order for you to bust past your best, you have to find out what your best actually is. Take an objective look at the things you'll want to improve and determine where in your development you are. This will become your base line - the point from which you can measure your process.

Baby steps. Most bodybuilders and other strength athletes try to lift a little more every time they hit the weights. Some have resorted to adding just a metal washer or two to their barbells. By incorporating this slight addition continuously, they're able to bust past their best and become stronger. The same principle can be applied to any aspect of life: baby steps, over time, can cover great distances. Be sure you plan where you want to go, as well.

IN THE CARAVAN: In order for you to bust past your best, determine your focus, figure out where your level is and improve incrementally.
