INTERVIEWING: Positive Attitude, Positive Answers, Positive Results
Every office has a bad penny. You know - someone with a bad attitude, someone who negates anything that's said, someone who has worked there forever because nobody takes the initiative to get rid of him/her or change his/her behavior.
Yeah. You've worked with a bad penny or two. Heck - at some point or another, most of us have been bad pennies.
Despite this, employers don't hire job candidates who are bad pennies. They don't want to hire surly, negative people. That's because hiring managers want to hire people they like.
Job interview success, then, depends upon being positive and up beat. Here are a few ways to help you appear positive and achieve job interview success:
Positive attitude. If you're interested
in obtaining job interview success, then a positive attitude is
crucial. The first step to having a positive attitude is to release the
negativity. Let go of your desperation. If you feel any bitterness
toward your last employer, then turn your thoughts on their side and
determine what you learned from the experience. You'll also have a
positive attitude when you're well practiced and prepared. Being
prepared will give you the confidence you need. Confidence leads to a
positive attitude, which leads to job interview success.
Positive answers. We've
all had former employers. And, if we've been laid off, fired or
unceremoniously canned and given the escorted walk of shame out of the
building, then we might have negative feelings about our old employers.
If so, read the previous tip again and reshape your feelings so you can
tell hiring managers what you've learned and how you can apply your
newfound wisdom to the position for which you're interviewing. Positive
answers tend to filter out the bad pennies before they're hired. And
providing positive answers will lead you to job interview success.
Positive results.
A job interview is nothing more than a sales meeting. And in sales, the
motto is "expect the sale." When you visualize positive results - in
this case job interview success - those positive results are more
likely to become real. Also, when you project a positive attitude and
provide positive answers, you're more likely to have the hiring manager
like you - and that leads directly to job interview success.
IN THE CARAVAN: Employers don't want to hire negative people. Project a positive attitude, provide positive answers and expect positive results.
