RESUMES: Keeping Your Resume In Front of Employers

It's not enough to have a killer resume.  You need to keep your resume in front of employers to build interest in what you bring to the party.

That can prove difficult because of the sheer number of job seekers competing for every job available.  If you need help keeping your resume in front of employers, try these two ideas:

Clippings.  After you send a resume to an employer, follow up with press clippings and links about yourself.  Whenever your name and/or face appears in a newspaper or online (in a positive tone), it adds to your brand and increases your perceived value.  Sending clips along to employers with brief notes reminding employers of your interest will nudge them to take another look at your resume.  It's a great keep your resume in front of employers.

Refresh.  When a house is newly listed for sale, there's usually a flurry of activity.  The open houses attract a lot of interest and many potential buyers walk through.  But as time goes by, houses attract less and less interest.  The same goes with resumes posted on job boards.  The best way to keep employers interested in your resume, then, is to make your resume look like it's freshly listed on the job boards.  This can be done by refreshing you resume - either by clicking on the refresh button (if there's one available) or taking your resume off and then re-posting it.  This is a great way to keep your resume in front of employers.
