RESUMES: Resume Blog Contact Info (Supplemental)

Earlier today, we looked at a few things to include on your resume blog. In that post, readers were encouraged not to include their phone number nor street address.

That's not to say your resume blog should be devoid of contact information. It's important for employers to be able to contact you from your resume blog without revealing private information. Here are a few ways to allow employers to contact you from your resume blog:

Email. It's a good thing to put your email address on your resume blog, but it's an even better idea to format it correctly. Placing a link (click to send an email) is convenient, but it also opens you up to mass quantities of spam. A better way, then, is to write your email address out as in editor at wildjobsafari dot com. This prevents spamming spiders from finding your email and sending you spam.

LinkedIn Profile. A resume blog link to your LinkedIn profile will not only allow employers to learn more about you, but also to send you a note. Having a link to your LinkedIn profile also demonstrates that you know how to network and how well you're connected.

Skype Link. Skype is a free Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) service. It allows users to call each other for free from one computer to another. Skype also has a messaging feature, too. But, if you're reading this blog, then you probably know about Skype. Employers know about it, too – and many use it. That's why you should include a link to contact you via Skype on your resume blog.
