Q & A: Flexible Jobs for Sandwich Generation: Make Your Own Job (Supplemental)

Earlier today, we looked at a question from a member of the Sandwich Generation who needs to find flexible work. There are a number of ways to make a living while caring for two generations and there were some pretty good suggestions on the topic in that earlier post.

There are a couple other options available to those who need a flexible way to earn a living, however:

Freelance. When the word "freelance" is mentioned, most think of writers or photographers (those two fields, by the way, are easy to make part time money from, but tough ways to make a full-time living). But there are many other ways to freelance. You can freelance in tons of other occupations - from secretarial to accounting. Two good sites to check out if you're interested in freelancing are eLance.com and Guru.com.

Start your own business(es). You can start a lawn mowing business for summer time income, a snowplowing business for the winter, have a birthday clown business for weekends and an interior painting business during the days and times that are convenient for you. By starting several "micro-businesses," you'll ensure steady income and a flexible schedule.
