GPS Tracking Saves Lives and Catches Criminals

GPS technology is one of the greatest inventions of our time.

Thanks to gps tracking, lives have been saved and criminals have been captured.   I'm not kidding about gps tracking helping to save criminals, either.  A murder case in Upstate was solved, in fact, by a gps tracking device from LandAirSea Systems, Inc. (which is sponsoring the content of this post).  The gps tracking device helped prosecution attorneys determine where the murderer was, when he was there, how long he was at any one place, and even the route he took.

The GPS Tracking Key from LandAirSea Systems is an affordable pocket-sized gps tracking unit that tracks driving motion.  It gets signals from the 24 Department of Defense GPS satellites currently in orbit and records them.  The information can then be downloaded to a computer (by plugging it into the USB port) and viewed through Google Earth.

And that's just where the convenience of this gps tracking device starts.  Sure, it's compatible with Google Earth.  And yes, it's easy to use.  But it's also small enough to be concealable.  It even comes with a magnet strong enough (and waterproof enough)  to put under the car.

What could you do with a gps tracking device?  Well, if you're a parent of a teenager, you could do a few things.  Let's say, for instance, Junior said he missed his curfew because he was at his buddy's house and accidentally fell asleep. But, after plugging the gps tracking device into your USB port, you might find he was actually at his girlfriend's house.  Here, you can catch him in his fib and keep him on the straight and narrow in the future.

You can trust the data, too.  The GPS Tracking Key from LandAirSea Systems is accurate to within 2.5 meters and records the location information from the satellites every second.

This will give you a good idea as to the size of the GPS Tracking Key:

And be sure to check out the video on how this gps tracking unit helped catch a murderer, too:

I think eventually most cars will include some form of GPS unit built-in... purely for location of the vehicle, thus helping emergency services, as wel las perhaps police officers.

I read on Digg that there is a device being tested that can be fitted to security vehicles - allowing the engine to be switched off remotely as well as closing windows and locking the doors keeping potential thieves inside.

Pretty cool if it goes mainstream.

I think you're right.  It could be a real boon if it goes mainstream.  It's very cool technology and could save a lot of lives.

There will be no such thing as car chases anymore when that happens. Just track the car to where it stops. That will the roads alot safer too.

That's a benefit I hadn't thought of - and I hope it comes to pass!

I'm surprised it's taken this long for this technology to be used in this way. I suppose perhaps it's been to expensive in the past.
