ADDING VALUE: The Ten Irrefutable Laws of Unemployment

Unemployment, like physics, is governed by irrefutable laws.
In physics, for instance, what goes up must come down. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. A body at rest tends to stay at rest unless acted upon by an outside force.
There are also irrefutable laws governing conducting a job search while unemployed. A few of these laws have been referred to in previous posts often enough for many of you to ask for the complete list. And, since we aim to please:
The Ten Irrefutable Laws of Unemployment
I) Your home computer will work absolutely perfectly until such time as you're laid off and looking for work. At that point, some aspect of your home computer system will crap out.
II) It's better to have a network in place before you need it than trying to build one when you do.
III) All job seekers are in sales.
IV) Networking provides far more interviews and quality leads than any other job search method.
V) It ain't bragging if you can back it up.
VI) If you're not on LinkedIn.com, you're not really serious about networking.
VII) If you aren't getting interviews, it's your resume. If you're getting interviews but no job offers, it's the way you interview.
VIII) If a job posting says "required," they mean it. If it says "preferred," you have wiggle room.
IX) When following up, there's a fine line between persistence and stalking.
X) Employers expect you to make a counter offer.
